Mars
and the Gorgon
Chapter 1: The Rays of Gold
March, 1500
Danae sat by the ebony window
frame, sewing a sachet for her husband. Life was good in the manor expect that
they had no children. Danae’s husband was an alchemist and spent all day in his
study making potions and medicine. Danae was lonely for her husband’s touch and
a child to call her own, but her husband had a cold heart and won’t not satisfy
her needs. She looked at the crimson velvet of the Fabric in her hand and the
black window frame and thought of a child with red lips and black hair.
Just then, in a vast unearthly realm,
the great spirt, Mars, heard her Prayers. He looked down and saw through the ebony
window, the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. He had to have her. Mars
thought of a plan. The man turned into golden rays of light and entered the
room. He took the juice of a daffodil and squeezed it down into her eyes. The juice
put her sound asleep and she lay backward in her chair with her legs spread
wide open. Mars turned into a man and proceeded to have his way with her. When he
was finished, he had planted a divine seed in her belly that was already
beginning to grow into a baby.
After that Mars kept his distance as
he watched the girl from afar. He took the form of a woodpecker and watched her
on the windowsill. Then her mean, husband shooed him away. So he took the
disguise of a dog and lived in the small wood outside Danae’s room.
